There’s a new report floating on the internet which says that ChatGPT is now handling more than 2.5 billion user prompts every single day. Just eight months ago, that number stood at around 1 billion per day. This means that the daily usage has more than doubled in less than a year.
Amongst this 2.5 billion, the United States accounts for over 330 million of daily prompts, making it one of the largest user bases globally. However, adoption isn’t limited to the U.S. In fact, India is now tied with the U.S. for visitor share, with each contributing around 16% of ChatGPT’s traffic. Other top countries include Brazil, Canada, and France.

• ChatGPT users send more than 2.5B prompts globally each day, per OpenAI
• More than 330M of those are in US
• The free version of ChatGPT is used by the vast majority of the platform's 500m weekly active users https://t.co/VYLLoAXagj
Furthermore, ChatGPT is also becoming one of the most visited websites in the world. The platform has already surpassed 800 million weekly active users in April, and now the company is aiming to reach 1 billion by the end of the year.
Apart from the traffic and prompts each day, the usage trend shows that professionals aged between 25–34 and those with postgraduate education are among the most active users. The platform is primarily used for productivity and work-related tasks. However, the broader user base skews even younger, with over 62% of users under age 25.
Adoption is also strong at the enterprise level. More than 92% of Fortune 500 companies are said to be using ChatGPT in some form, whether for customer service, coding support, content generation, or internal tools.
However, that’s not all! The Sam Altman-led AI giant is constantly releasing new updates to the platform. For example, recently OpenAI released ChatGPT Agents, which is a fully functional AI agent that works for you. It allows the AI to act on your behalf to complete multi-step tasks, like browsing the web, logging into accounts, running code, and more. Besides, the OpenAI and the UK Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen collaboration around artificial intelligence.
