ChatGPT Pulse Is Here: 5 Things to Know About OpenAI’s New Assistant

OpenAI is back in the headlines as the company has launched its new ChatGPT Pulse feature, which will give you personalized daily updates without even asking. So in this article, I will talk about five things you should know about opening a new assistant.

1. It turns ChatGPT into a proactive assistant

Until now, if you had to do something on ChatGPT, you had to ask it, but with this new feature, ChatGPT will research on your behalf and will deliver updates every morning. ChatGPT will build this feature on your past chats, memory, and feedback to figure out what’s most relevant for you.

2. Updates shared as visual cards

Usually, we don’t have much time early in the morning, so this new feature will deliver a set of visual cards that you can scan quickly. This could be anything from follow-ups on recent conversations to a recipe idea for dinner or reminders about personal goals. ChatGPT will also allow you to expand any card to get more details or save it for later.

3. Gmail and calendar integration

It will also allow you to connect Google Calendar and Gmail. And with a calendar linked with ChatGPT, it will suggest a meeting, agenda, surface birthday reminders, or recommend restaurants for an upcoming trip. However, it’s important to keep in mind that these integrations are optional and can be toggled at any time.

4. Feedback-based updates

The interesting part is that you are not stuck with whatever Pulse decides to show you, as the company has added a curation tool where you can request specific updates like Friday local events, or tennis news for tomorrow. The shared blog post reveals that a thumbs-up or thumbs-down will help you find results, and over time, Pulse will get better at matching your needs.

5. Available now for pro users, more to come

As of now, the Pulse feature is in the preview for pro users on mobile; however, the company plans to expand it to Plus and eventually all users. According to the company, this is just the first step in moving from a reactive chatbot to a proactive AI assistant that can research, plan, and eventually take action on your behalf.

That’s about it for ChatGPT Pulse for now. However, I think this signals a shift in how AI assistants will evolve in the coming years, as we have already reached a stage where ChatGPT will provide personalized insights, even before being asked.
