Chase Young releases statement as potential season-ending suspension looms

Chase Young, the third-year defensive end for the Ohio State football team, will be sidelined against Maryland, a game the Buckeyes were favored by over 40 points.

With the Terrapins an afterthought, the main concern goes to if the Ohio State will get their Heisman hopeful back in time for its showdown with the No. 4 ranked Penn State in a couple of weeks, and how it affects the team going forward. What about the race for the College Football Playoff?

Well Young, who will be suspended for Saturday’s game, released a statement claiming that he took a loan from a family friend. He also noted that he repaid it.

With a few interesting holes in the story like how he repaid the loan, it’ll be telling to see more details released in the coming days. Here’s his official release.

Young wasn’t the only one with quality notes on the situation. Quote tweeting Young’s statement was sports attorney Tim Nevius, who might have some more insight on the situation.

At-large, we really don’t know enough yet to understand whether Young’s infractions will sideline him for the remainder of the season. What we do know is that there isn’t much chance for this to hurt his NFL stock, which is at an all-time high.

For now, let’s just sit back and hear as more details will inevitably come to light in the near future.
