Chase Young ranks No. 8 in entire NFL when it comes to pass rush win-rate

Who needs stats when the advanced metrics show that you’re among the very best at your position just over halfway through your rookie season in the NFL?

That’s likely what Washington’s DE Chase Young is thinking right about now, with a large part of the public up in arms with his lack of sacks and tackles so far this year, but a much more knowledgable football crowd lauding him for his impressive play already. Through 11 games, Young has 4.5 sacks, which admittedly is a bit lower than we had been hoping for coming into his debut season, but watching him play, it’s apparent that he affects the game in many ways outside of the box score. One way we’ve been shown now is in his pass rush win-rate, where he ranks No. 8 in the entire league, higher than players like DeMarcus Lawrence and J.J. Watt, and on par with guys like Justin Houston and Romeo Okwara.

We all know that sacks come in bunches, and it’s likely that Young’s numbers will start to rise a bit more as the season goes on, but this is yet another way to show you that the rookie is having a stellar start to his NFL career.
