Chase Young continues Ohio State’s run of NFL Defensive Rookies of the Year

At this point, just let the award be handed out in Columbus, Ohio.

For the fourth time in five years, a former Ohio State player has won the Pro Football Writers of America NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. Earlier this week, and as expected really, Washington Football Team defensive end Chase Young was named as the winner of the award.

It’s a crazy run for Buckeyes winning the award ever since Joey Bosa took it home in 2016. From there, Marshon Lattimore was recognized in 2017, with Nick Bosa keeping the trend going in 2019. Somehow, someone let a South Carolina player in on the whole thing, with the Colts’ Darius Leonard winning it in 2018.

After a season in which he broke the Ohio State single-season sack record, Young was selected as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft by Washington and instantly made a name for himself. He finished the year with 44 total tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks. He unofficially racked up several soiled underpants of opposing quarterbacks.

Well done Young, and remember when all of those so-called amateur draft experts called him a bust before he was named a Washington captain and took the NFL by storm?
