Chase viewers brand contestant 'coward' after going against her previous advice

Viewers tuning in to an episode of The Chase were left less than impressed with one particular player.

Gail was labeled a 'coward' after going against her own advice she gave to her teammates.

Earlier in the show, the 72-year-old advised fellow team members to accept the higher offer, with fans watching from home expecting the classical music enthusiast to stick to her advice when it came for her to go up against Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha.

During her cash-builder round, the Andre Rieu fan managed to bag £7,000, telling Bradley Walsh that she would go traveling to St Helena if she won the cash prize.

After her performance in the cash-builder round, The Sinnerman offered Gail a high offer of £53,000, a low offer of £-1,000 or to play the £7,000 she earned.

Fellow teammate Kim told Gail: "Well I know you've all been telling us to go high and if you want to, you can."

But when it was time for her to battle it out with The Sinnerman, she chose to play the £7,000 she earned.

Despite saying she would always take the higher offer, she ended up going against what she had previously advised, claiming it was too 'risky'.

Although The Sinnerman branded her decision as 'sensible', many viewers on Twitter were far from impressed.

Dan Reed said: "Gail you absolute coward."

Mr Chambers added: "Gail bottled it..."

"WHAT A LETDOWN after telling everyone else to go high." Neil Whelan tweeted:

SB said: "So spent all that time telling everyone to go for the high offer and she didn’t do it herself."

Later on in the show, Gail managed to return to her team with the £7,000 - bringing their total to £20,000, despite her controversial move.

However, it was not meant to be as The Sinnerman beat them with 15 seconds to spare.

The Chase will air again on Wednesday at 5pm on ITV
