Chase player tipped to be new Chaser after £40k win

A Chase player was tipped to become the next new Chaser tonight after his amazing £40k head to head win.

George, 25, from Texas told host Bradley that he loved quizzing and had previously appeared on University Challenge for St Andrews University.

George said he wanted to stay in the UK with his girlfriend and put any cash he won towards a house deposit.

He scored an admirable £6,000 in his cash builder before going up against The Sinnerman, Paul Sinha, who was tonight's Chaser.

Paul knew George and said: "He's the star of the British student quiz team, he's very very good indeed but there are gaps there."

George decided to go for the high offer of £40,000 after being tempted by Paul, despite saying his girlfriend would prefer him to take the £6,000.

George worked through the questions with ease and got a NASA question right after admitting his parents worked for the space organisation.

He took the £40,000 back to his team, with Paul admitting: "That was quality."

And viewers were equally impressed with George's efforts with many predicting he could be a future Chaser.

Emma said: "George on #TheChase absolutely bossing it. Guy's gotta be a contender for the next Chaser surely. Loving how he casually mentions his parents work for NASA."

UFO she-ra said: "George could be up for a seat as a Chaser! Smart lad that he is!"

Daniel Hewitt said: "Reckon we might be seeing a future new chaser here."

And Jon Warr said: "George is killing it on The Chase!"

*The Chase continues at 5pm on ITV tomorrow
