Chase for Bristol City and Derby County transfer target Graeme Shinnie takes fresh twist

The chase for one of this summer's most wanted men in the Championship rumbles on.

Aberdeen captain Graeme Shinnie must decide on whether to stick or twist in the next few weeks as he contemplates his future.

Steve Lansdown gives his verdict on Bristol City's season and Lee Johnson's performance

Bristol City are one of the sides interested in the left back or central midfielder , however Derby County look to be in the box seat as they have already conducted talks with the 27-year-old, while the five-cap international has already visited Pride Park to talk with Frank Lampard.

Derby's pursuit of Shinnie has reportedly been delayed by the soft transfer embargo they are currently operating under following EFL investigations over their financial activities.

A number of clubs, including Rangers, Hearts and Sheffield United, have been linked with the Scotland international and it does look like a move is in the offing for the free agent this coming summer.

However, Aberdeen boss - and former Robins manager - Derek McInnes says that he still harbours hopes of keeping the player at Pittodrie beyond this summer.

"The likelihood is that he will probably leave," McInnes told the Aberdeen Express .

"But it is not set in stone yet so we live in hope."

The report explained that Aberdeen have also tabled an improved and new long-term deal to Shinnie's representatives. And it looks like this transfer tale still has some mileage to travel yet before the Dandies man's future is resolved.
