Chase Briscoe bests JGR teammate Denny Hamlin for Kansas Cup pole

This is the tenth time Briscoe has started a race from the front row this year, and his seventh pole position of 2025, giving Chase Briscoe the job of leading the NASCAR Cup Series field to the green flag. The No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota was the only car to run a lap in under 30 seconds, securing pole with a 29.987s run. This was crucial for Briscoe, who enters this race on the cutline and just 12 points above the cutline.

"I was just telling the guys, it feels like forever since we've been on the pole," said Briscoe. "Glad to get back to our normal form, truthfully. Just a great day. Went fishing this morning with Johnny Morris (Bass Pro Shops CE0) and JP Morris and catching all kinds of big bass, and then capping it off with the pole here at what is really their home race. Just super excited for what we have tomorrow. I felt like our car was pretty fast in practice too. Hopefully, we can keep this Toyota up front. It would be nice to win and not have to deal with all the chaos of the Roval next week."

He beat Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin by a full tenth (0.101s). Kyle Larson, who won the most recent Cup race at Kansas, qualified third and led the Chevrolet camp. Chase Elliott qualified fourth and Christopher Bell fifth.

Carson Hocevar was the top non-playoff driver in sixth, followed by Bubba Wallace, Ty Gibbs, Ross Chastain, and Erik Jones inside the top ten.

Other playoff drivers just outside the top ten were William Byron in 11th and Tyler Reddick in 12th.

A bad day only got worse for Team Penske in qualifying. After two cut tires and a wreck in practice, their top-qualifying driver was Austin Cindric in 26th. Cindric actually hit the wall at the end of his lap as well.

Logano will start 35th, while Blaney (who is going to a backup car) did not take part and will start 37th.

Michael McDowell, who qualified 21st, and Shane van Gisbergen, who qualified 24th, will have to go to the rear of the field and serve a stop-and-go penalty during the race for making unapproved adjustments.
