Charvarius Ward pens thank you message to Chiefs Kingdom

Kansas City Chiefs CB Charvarius Ward is set to sign with the San Francisco 49ers at the onset of free agency.

The Chiefs took a chance on Ward back in 2018, trading for him in the same season that he entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent. He worked his way up to becoming a starting corner in the Kansas City defense in the first year under Steve Spagnuolo. He ended up starting a whopping 53 games over the course of his Chiefs career (including playoffs). Now, he’s signing a long-term contract with 49ers with over $26 million in guaranteed money attached.

Shortly after the deal was reported, Ward tweeted out a thank you message to the fans in Kansas City. He isn’t soon to forget all the greatness from the past four seasons with the Chiefs.

“Thanks #ChiefsKingdom for 4 great years. Blessed to have been part of such a great organization. Great coaches, great fans, & a great team. Love y’all,” he wrote on Twitter.

Ward’s departure now leaves a hefty void at the cornerback position in Kansas City. While Brett Veach is confident in players like L’Jarius Sneed and Rashad Fenton to step up in Ward’s absence, they’ll likely look to address the position in both free agency and the draft in order to build it back up.
