Chart reveals Edinburgh Covid hotspots over the past seven days

A coronavirus map of the capital allows Edinburgh locals to check if their neighbourhood is in a hotspot.

Using data from Public Health Scotland, the number of cases in each area is charted over a seven-day period.

The latest data has been collected between 29 October and 4 November.

It shows Old Town, Princes Street and Leith Street had the largest number of cases in a week, with Currie West and Niddrie the next highest tallies.

However, other areas faired much better with the likes of Barnton, Cammo and Cramond South, as well as Pilrig and Inverleith reporting low numbers of new infections.

Meanwhile, nine neighbourhoods in the Scottish capital recorded zero new cases in a week-long period.

These were: Fernisdide and Moredun South, Prestonfield, Northfield and Piershill, Portobello, Western Harbour and Leith Docks, Colinton Mains and Firrhill, Carrick Knowe, East Craigs North and Cramond.

Data from King College London showed new infections have dropped by almost 3,000 in just one week

Meanwhile, Imperial College London have predicted that the Scottish capital could be set to become an oasis of low Covid rates.
