Chart of the day: The higher you go, the more blokey it gets

In your workplace, who is most likely to be a worker bee, and who is most likely to be the boss?

The 2016 census gives us an idea on a range of occupations.

We've already looked at which occupations are male- or female-dominated, and now we can see the percentage of men at the lower and upper levels of various trades and professions.

The biggest gap is in dentistry, where 1.9 per cent of dental assistants are male, compared to 57.7 per cent of dentists.

Even in occupations such as child care, where most managers are female, men represent a higher proportion of managers than they do workers.
