An actor has to be visible to stay relevant and in circulation. Charrul Malik couldn’t agree more! According to her, the saying out-of-sight-out-of-mind holds true for those associated with showbiz. She says, “It is quite true that you’ve to be seen in order to exist, otherwise people forget you. An actor is easily replaceable. If not through work, we have to make use of social media to stay relevant. There are only a few who can stay aloof and still be in the reckoning.”
She adds, “People are keen to know about our personal life, fitness routines, and friends. They want to be entertained but at the same time, wish to feel connected with their favourite celebrity. Also, most want to see happy things and happy moments most of the time.”
Talking about the power of social media, she says, “If you’re not there on social media and not interacting with your fans, then it’s a big miss. I am quite active on social media and always interact through my work or social media. Having said that, it indeed feels like a pressure. But I have learnt to deal with it. I think I am not answerable to anyone and I do whatever makes me happy. I have realised that I need to trust and believe in myself instead of comparing myself with others and steer clear of peer pressure. I would like to believe that I am better than the rest.”
The approach is the same even on the work front. She shares, “I don’t care about what people have to say. I am satisfied with my career. I have my own journey, which can’t be likened to anybody else’s. All I want is to keep growing as an artiste.”
The actress plays Russa in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai and Happu Ki Ultan Paltan. She will also feature in Shantanu Tambe’s directorial venture, Dashmi.
