Charlton striker Lyle Taylor to dye hair pink again in support of Cancer Research UK

Charlton Athletic striker Lyle Taylor will again dye his hair pink for the whole of October to raise money and awareness for Cancer Research UK.

Taylor raised more than £16,000 by going pink last season. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and he is encouraging more people to get involved and join in this year,

The 29-year-old said: “I was overwhelmed by the support from the Charlton fanbase and the wider footballing world last season and I am very proud we were able to raise so much money and awareness.

“My story is my family, it is three out of my four grandparents, my aunt, my other aunt’s mum who passed away, it is my family that is the most important thing. Over the last year I have met so many people, Charlton fans in the main, who have lost people.

“With all these people that I have met, I am proud and glad that I am able to do it again and hopefully raise even more awareness and get even more people involved and spread the message even further.”

Charlton will turn the Valley pink for their home game against Derby on October 19 when there will be a pink matchday programme and supporters will be encouraged to wear pink.

Taylor said: “It will be bigger and pinker this year as obviously I have got more hair, the maintenance is going to be a nightmare but I am looking forward to it. It is going to be good and hopefully it will be bigger this year so we can get more people involved.

“It will be amazing to see The Valley on that day. We are hoping that more people here means more pink and that more pink means more awareness and we can spread that even further. It is not about the money we raised, I said that last year, it is about the number of people that are having the conversation.”
