Charlton report Bradford fan for sending racist tweets to Lyle Taylor

Charlton Athletic will report a Bradford fan to the police after Lyle Taylor received racist abuse online.

The striker was sent four tweets from one account that consisted of banana emojis after he scored the winner in Charlton's 1-0 victory over Bradford in League One on Saturday.

Taylor flagged up the tweets and said they were “yet another example of ignorant, small-minded racism”.

The fan behind the account called @BantamRealTalk has been named by another Bradford fan account. The tweets will be passed on to the police.

Taylor has received support online from both Charlton and Bradford fans.

He tweeted: “The support from everybody has been overwhelming today. The blanket condemnation of one idiot’s actions has highlighted the people's true feelings on this matter. Thank you for all the messages too, it means the world. #KickItOut.”

The abuse is the latest incident of racism in English football this season and follows the abuse suffered by Raheem Sterling, Danny Rose and Callum Hudson-Odoi while playing for England in Montenegro last week
