Charlton owner Tahnoon Nimer says he intends to “co-operate fully” with an EFL investigation into the club’s takeover by East Street Investments, which has cast fresh doubt on the Addicks’ future.

The EFL wrote to Nimer and former executive chairman Matt Southall — who was removed from the board in March following a bitter civil war — last Thursday to request information about the £1 takeover from Roland Duchatelet in January.

Nimer, who is still yet to satisfy EFL requests for proof and source of funding, said on Tuesday morning: “I can confirm that I have received correspondence from the EFL and I have already provided an initial response and intend to co-operate fully with them in order to ensure clarity on this matter.”

Southall also confirmed to Standard Sport his intention to co-operate.

The duo have until 4pm on Wednesday to provide the EFL with documents relating to the takeover and the timeline of events regarding the transfer of shares and roles taken in the running of the club.

An EFL statement read: “The EFL have commenced formal investigations to ascertain whether breaches of EFL regulations and or other misconduct occurred in relation to the takeover of Charlton Athletic in January 2020.”
