Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer has revealed he has bought a gift for his former club Leeds United to congratulate them on their title victory.
The Whites were crowned Championship winners on Saturday, less than 24 hours after sealing promotion.
The 16-year exodus from the top-flight brought rapturous celebrations from everyone connected with Leeds, further enhanced with a 3-1 win away at Derby County on Sunday and a guard of honour.
Leeds end the season on Wednesday night at Elland Road with Bowyer's current side Charlton the visitors.
The Addicks are outside of the bottom three ahead of their trip to West Yorkshire but may need a result to avoid an immediate return to League One, with the battle to stay up as tight as ever.
Ahead of the clash, Bowyer has revealed he has bought a nice bottle of malbec for Marcelo Bielsa but insisted the timing of their fixture was never in the back of his mind.
"I called yesterday to say congratulations for winning the league," Bowyer told talkSPORT.
"To give him a gift was just a respectful thing.
No matter what manager I was going to be against for the final game, they're champions and the right thing to do is give them a gift.
"I did ring up and they said just bring him a nice bottle of malbec so that's what I have done.
"I've bought one for Eddie Gray as well because he's a good friend and a good man that still works at the club."
