Charlton boss Lee Bowyer insists Addicks will not get complacent as they look to seal Play-Off final berth

Lee Bowyer has warned last week’s Champions League comebacks show Charlton cannot afford to think about the play-off final at Wembley.

Charlton won 2-1 at Doncaster Rovers in the first leg of their semi-final on Sunday thanks to quick-fire first-half goals from Lyle Taylor and Joe Aribo and have not lost at The Valley in League One since October.

But Bowyer believes the comebacks by Tottenham and Liverpool in the Champions League semi-finals against Ajax and Barcelona show the tie is not over ahead of Friday’s second leg.

Tottenham trailed 3-0 on aggregate at one stage in Amsterdam before eventually progressing on away goals, while Liverpool also wiped away a 3-0 deficit with an emphatic 4-0 victory over the LaLiga champions at Anfield.

“We have witnessed with the week that has just gone by how crazy football can be,” Bowyer said.

“We will not take our foot off the pedal and with our fans behind us it could be a special night.”
