Charlton boss Lee Bowyer escapes touchline ban

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer has escaped a touchline ban for his red card against Birmingham.

Bowyer was sent off for throwing a ball at the Birmingham bench after it had entered the pitch as Charlton slipped to a 1-0 defeat last Saturday.

But Bowyer has been let off with a warning from the FA and will be in the dugout for Saturday’s trip to Wigan.

Bowyer said: “I am happy the FA have made the correct decision to take no further formal action. Our focus remains on preparation for Saturday’s game against Wigan.”

Third-place Charlton will be looking to continue their strong start in the Championship when they play Wigan.

The Addicks will be without Lyle Taylor because of his knee injury but the striker does not need surgery.

Bowyer said: "Lyle [Taylor] is going to be out for a while. I do not know how long. He is got to wear that brace now for a few weeks and we’ll know more once he come out of it about how he will be. He has got to rest.”

Bowyer added: "George Lapslie hurt his hamstring on Tuesday so he is going to be out for a couple of weeks. Jason Pearce has got a little bit of tightness, but he will be okay, he will not train today but he will be OK for Saturday. Apart from that everyone else is OK.”
