Charlton boss Lee Bowyer believes he can get best out of 'great player' Aiden McGeady

Lee Bowyer believes he can get Aiden McGeady firing again.

The forgotten Ireland international is hoping to land on his feet at Charlton following his loan move from Sunderland.

McGeady, 33, fell out of favour with the League One club but joined the Championship club last week until the end of the season.

Charlton boss Bowyer said today: "McGeady is a great player. Whatever has gone on in the past is gone and it is nothing to do with me.

“My job now is to get him back to where we know he can be. He scores goals & makes assists and I’m delighted that he’s in our squad. He brings us something different."

Capped 92 times, McGeady hasn’t featured for Ireland since the 5-1 World Cup playoff defeat to Denmark in 2017.

He could make his Charlton debut in Saturday’s league game away to Stoke City.
