Charlton Athletic fans left in limbo as Lee Bowyer situation takes fresh twist

To say that Charlton's fans are furious is something of an understatement.

A statement released on the Addicks' website revealed that the club had failed to reach an agreement with Lee Bowyer regarding a new contract.

The former Leeds and Newcastle midfielder is set to be out of contract in two weeks' time unless a deal can be agreed, meaning that it's possible that he could leave the club.

However TalkSPORT have reported that Bowyer has been left 'bewildered' by the statement on the Charlton website, with the 42-year-old still keen to lead the south London side into the Championship.

Whether that will remains very much in the air, with the two parties thought to be some way apart in negotiations.

Fans at the Valley are rightly flabbergasted by what is only the latest in a long line of mishaps at the club, with many holding sympathy for a manager who has worked wonders on the pitch in difficult circumstances.
