Charlotte Hornets land No. 11 overall pick in 2021 NBA draft

The Charlotte Hornets remained in their spot in the draft lottery on Tuesday evening and will select 11th overall in July’s NBA draft. Charlotte entered the evening with an 8.5% chance of moving into the top four and a 1.8% chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick.

The Hornets have selected 11th three times in the franchise’s history, most recently taking Shair Gilgeous-Alexander in 2018 before a draft-day trade landed the team Miles Bridges. The season prior, the team drafted Malik Monk 11th overall and also took Carlos Rogers with the 11th pick in 1994.

This season will be the fifth straight year the team will draft in the lottery. In the last two years, the team landed LaMelo Ball and P.J. Washington third and 12th overall, respectively. This is also the fifth time in the last six appearances in the lottery that the Hornets did not move up or down. Last season, the team jumped five spots into the top four.
