Charlotte Hawkins returns to Good Morning Britain after isolating amid Covid battle

Charlotte Hawkins has returned to Good Morning Britain after battling coronavirus and isolating.

The TV presenter, 46, appeared on Monday morning's episode of the ITV show, where she hosted the first half an hour of the programme on her own.

It came after Charlotte shared an adorable picture of herself hugging her daughter Ella, six, after they reunited after her self-isolation ended.

She has been in isolation for over 10 days after testing positive for the virus, but revealed she "got off lightly" after suffering only mild, cold-like symptoms.

During the show she was welcomed back by weather reporter Laura Tobin, who told her: "I want to say Charlotte, welcome back! How are you doing? I know you've been off with Covid."

"Thank you! I know, I have!" Charlotte replied.

"It's good to be back, thank you very much. Lucky I only had mild, cold-like symptoms, so I can tell you it's nice to be out the other side safely."

Later, Susanna Reid also welcomed Charlotte back to the show.

"Welcome back to the programme Charlotte Hawkins! Have you recovered?" Susanna said.

Charlotte told her: "I am so glad to be here, yes I am fully recovered, out the other side.

"I isolated for 10 days, in fact for over 10 days because I just started to feel unwell and kept doing tests, because I just thought, something's not right here.

"I knew Dr Hilary had been talking about the mega cold going round, so I thought maybe it's that, but those [tests] came back positive so I had to isolate.

"The hardest thing was, I mean I was lucky because I got off lightly, I just had cold-like symptoms, but having to isolate away from my six-year-old, not being able to hug her."

Charlotte went on: "I just wanted to make sure that I kept her safe and I didn't want to pass it on to my husband either, and luckily they were all OK."

She revealed that her main symptoms were tiredness and cold-like symptoms.

The mum-of-one added: "Just test just in case because you want to make sure you don't pass it on to anybody else."

In the photo she shared on Sunday night, Charlotte beamed as she hugged little Ella tightly, with the little girl, who Charlotte shares with her husband Mark Herbert, looking thrilled to be back with her mum.

Charlotte captioned the snap: "So I finally get to hug this one after being in isolation for 10 days with Covid… I missed it SO much!!

"I'm feeling extremely lucky I only had cold-like symptoms.

"Thankfully I kept testing even though I had none of the usual Covid symptoms, so caught it early & none of my family got ill.

"Looking forward to being back with @ClassicFM tonight 7-9pm plus @gmb tomorrow from 6am. Can't wait to be back!!!

"Sending love to all those isolating with Covid right now."
