Charlotte Dawson's heartbreaking message to her late father Les about her pregnancy

It's an emotional time for mum-to-be Charlotte Dawson.

The pregnant reality TV star has just announced that she's to become a mother for the first time, and her baby is due around the time of what would have been her late father's 90th birthday.

The legendary comic Les Dawson died when Charlotte was just eight months old, and Charlotte has written a moving message to her dad about her excitement at becoming a mum while wishing she could share the news with him.

Charlotte, 27, who is expecting a baby with rugby league player Matt Sarsfield, 28, feels the pregnancy is a 'gift' from her her dad.

The former Celebs Go Dating and Ex On The Beach star posted the heartbreaking words on her Instagram alongside a photo of herself cuddling up to a cardboard cutout of her famous father.

"Wish I could tell you your going to be a grandad," she wrote.

"I really hope baba comes out my chuffin womb on your birthday too ... I really feel like you sent our little gift so lucky I have you as a cardboard cut out."

"Your dad was my Saturday childhood! Legend!" said one follower.

"This brings so many emotions to me because I’ll be the same with my mum.

"Just remember he will be so proud of you and everything you’ve done.

"He’s always looking down on you," said another.

Les, from Collyhurst, died in 1993.

In 2016 Charlotte brought the cardboard cutout of her dad on the set of the ITV show This Morning.

She said she would make sure Les will be there when she marries her dream man by taking the cutout of him to the church.

She told the show: “Hopefully he’ll be there. He’ll be down the aisle waiting for me.”

Charlotte previously revealed she wanted to open her own theme chippy in Manchester or Blackpool in homage to her dad.

She said it would come with glittery gravy, podiums, disco balls, a prosecco bar and a corner dedicated to Les - and the chips would be wrapped in articles about the comic.

In 2017 she had a massive picture of her dad inked on the nape of her neck on the MTV show Just Tattoo of Us.

Announcing the news of her pregnancy on her Instagram she wrote: "I can’t even believe I’m FINALLY saying this out loud to all my fabulous followers!!!!!!! me and my @matt_sarsfield are HAVING A CHUFFIN BABAY!!!!!!"
