Charlotte Dawson's fears for unborn baby as she's diagnosed with gestational diabetes

Charlotte Dawson has opened up about her fears for her unborn son after she was diagnosed with gestational diabtes.

The Celebs Go Dating star, 28, said she is terrified that something will happen to her son because of the illness.

Last month she revealed she had been diagnosed with gestational diabetes, which is high blood sugar that develops during pregnancy and usually disappears after giving birth.

Speaking on Thursday’s edition of Steph's Packed Lunch on Channel 4 said: "I am struggling mentally with everything. It's mentally draining, feeling like this.”

Because of her condition, Charlotte has been told she must swap her beloved sugary snacks for healthy food.

She continued: "I think it's probably getting to me as well, if I'm down I usually have chips and gravy and I can't!

"I'm just so worried about doing anything to the baby, that's what I'm so worried about, of anything happening to him."

She added: "Having a baby in a pandemic… it's not easy."

On the show Charlotte spoke to Doctor Sophie Newton about what kinds of food she can eat.

She told Charlotte, who is the daughter of the late comedian Les Dawson, to swap her usual snack of Minstrels for fruit, carrot sticks and hummus.

Doctor Sophie also advised her to do more exercise to help with both her mental health and her blood sugar.

Charlotte said: "If any of my fellow preggo birds have just been diagnosed with gestational diabetes, I just want to give you a big snuggle.

"I know we're not allowed to cuddle right now - but come here you!

"I just want to say, we've got this girls, we need to be positive and just rock this gestational diabetes!"
