Charlotte Church slams government as kids go back to school in England

"Voice of an angel" Charlotte Church has slammed the Westminster government as many children returned to primary schools in England.

With the easing of lockdown, primary pupils are allowed back into their classrooms.

However, surveys are suggesting many parents will continue to keep their kids home as a safety precaution, writes The Mirror.

Singer Charlotte, 34, who lives in Wales with her two children, has begged parents across the border to keep their kids at home - saying the Tory government doesn't care about ordinary people.

She posted on Twitter : "Highly recommend if you can help it, not sending your children back to school tomorrow...this government doesn't give a flying **** about you, your children, your elders or your vulnerable. #resist."

Children in reception, years one and six can return to school, as of today.

A study conducted by the National Foundation for Educational Research, however, suggests a big proportion of England's parents will be keeping their little ones away from the school gates.

Some 46 per cent are expected to keep kids home, while 25 per cent of teachers are likely to be absent due to their families' or their own health conditions.

Charlotte is pregnant with her third child, and is already mum to 12-year-old Ruby and 11-year-old Dexter.

The tot will be Charlotte's first with hubby Jonathan Powell and she shares Ruby and Dexter with ex fiance and rugby ace Gavin Henson.

Charlotte' been outspoken throughout the coronavirus crisis, including brutal criticism of Johnson's chief adviser Dominic Cummings after his alleged breach of lockdown rules.

A return date for secondary school students has yet to be given.
