Charlotte Church holding 'witchcraft' sessions at her Welsh retreat amid £800,000 debt

Charlotte Church has started offering “witchcraft” sessions at her wellness retreat, The Dreaming.

The singer - who previously revealed she is no longer a millionaire - set up the holistic Welsh retreat in 2023 and it is racking up major debts, according to reports filed to Companies House.

Church, 39, has pumped more than £600,000 into the venture in a bid to keep it afloat, MailOnline reported.

The pop star has now added witch-themed retreats at Rhydoldog House, Powys, for those who are “ready to embody their magic through ritual nature, and deep witchcraft practices”.

She is describing herself as a “spiritual guide” in the retreats and is charging £3,000 for a four-night stay in various rooms, including one called “The Womb”.

“This immersive retreat is designed to activate the witch within: blending ancient wisdom, elemental magic, and deep self-exploration,” The Dreaming website states.

The description goes on: “Led by singer and spiritual guide Charlotte Church and High Priestess and author Tree Carr, this retreat is an opportunity to rekindle your craft through ritual, herbalism, dream-work, plant-spirit connection, meditation, sound, and sacred art.

“The Dreaming, a haven nestled in magical lands of Wales, provides the perfect setting for witches to reconnect with the old ways.

“Each day will be themed around a different aspect of the Witch's Path, all guided by the five elements of earth, water, air, fire and spirit.

“We will move from awakening, healing and reclaiming to deepening and manifesting.”

The retreat has made a loss every year and is now £811,626 in debt, according to the most recent accounts submitted to Companies House obtained by MailOnline.

This is up from £707,550 in 2024.

Her two companies, Charlotte Church Ltd and Chick Flicks Ltd, are believed to have put £610,149 into the venture.

Charlotte Church Ltd has £3,099,848 in reserves, according to the latest accounts.

The Standard has contacted Church’s representative for comment.

The former child prodigy - who had made £25 million by the time she was 11 - set up The Dreaming in her home country in Wales to help people “reconnect with themselves and the natural world”.

It is aided by volunteers, to whom she gives accommodation and food in exchange for them helping at the retreat.

Church - who is set to appear on the new series of Celebrity Traitors - revealed last year that she’s “not a millionaire anymore” and has been forced to swap her mansion for a semi-detached.

In 2013, she bought The Spinney, a six-bedroom rural mansion in Wales for £1.3 million and started The Arwen Project, which is described as “a rural, educational, environmental project in Wales, offering experiential learning for mainly young people”.

The huge house, which featured on the TV show Dream Build, includes a park-sized garden, a piano room, a customised bookcase automatically opening to reveal a perfectly hidden lounge, and nature-inspired décor.

She sold The Spinney last March, making a £1 million profit, and downgraded to a more modest abode.

The Crazy Chick hitmaker told Time Out: "I am not a millionaire anymore. What mattered to me when I bought The Spinney is it was absolutely beautiful and close to the forest and it was a big mansion house.

"We had a school there for a bit and a studio. When it is used by the community, it makes sense, but when it is not used, it doesn’t. We want to be in the mainframe and be involved in life and what it feels like."

The mother-of-three was catapulted into the spotlight as a pre-teen after singing Andrew Lloyd Webber's Pie Jesu in 1997 and was dubbed “The Voice of an Angel”.
