Charlie Ward to fight Pietro Penini at Bellator London next month

SBG Ireland fighter Charlie Ward will get a second chance to fight Pietro Penini at Bellator London next month, Mirror Sport can exclusively reveal.

The 7-3 ex-UFC man, who is a close personal friend of Conor McGregor and trains under John Kavanagh, was supposed to face the 8-1-1 Italian at Bellator Dublin last month, but pulled out with injury.

However, he now gets another bite at the cherry at the SSE Arena Wembley on November 23rd on the undercard of an event which will feature Bellator Dublin co-main event winner Michael 'Venom' Page against Derek Anderson.

Ward's last outing in the Bellator cage saw him take his winning streak with the promotion to 4-0 when he finished Justin Moore at the same venue in June.

He previously fought twice in the UFC, but lost both bouts by TKO including one bizarre slam knockout against Galore Bofando.

There is other Irish interest in the card, as Team Ryano lightweight Myles Price faces 12-3 Charlie Leary on the prelims.

Bellator could not confirm if Ward would be the last fighter added to the preliminary card for the event, which will be broadcast on Virgin Media Sport.

Tickets to Bellator London are on sale and can be purchased online from axs.com/uk and Bellator.com.
