Charlie Simpson makes huge announcement as he thanks fans for 'awesome' support

Charlie Simpson thanked his fans for the 'awesome' support he received on The Masked Singer.

The Busted singer was overwhelmed when he was crowned the winner during the singing competition's final.

His identity remained a secret until they competed one last time against Fawn and Phoenix.

As the masks came off over the weekend, Rhino left the whole studio audience and panel - including Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall and Rita Ora - shocked.

Following his stint on the Masked Singer, he took to Instagram to thank his fans and made a huge announcement.

The video started with him wearing the rhino mask before he quickly ripped it off his head and smiled at the camera.

"Well, this has been a hard secret to keep. Reading all of your comments each week has been awesome," the writing in the video read.

"I've been so blown away by all the support! So I've decided to release a few songs I sang on the show as an EP named 'KIFARU' the Swahili for Rhino.

"I hope you like it. Big love."

Fans rushed to the comment section to congratulate the singer on his big win, with one user writing: "So happy you won! Congrats and love this cover."

"You were incredible!! I knew it was you from the second I heard you sing. Busted girly forever. no talent like yours!!," another posted.

One viewer commented: "Sounded great man. Spotted that voice straight away."

"I’m afraid it’s not really been a secret…your voice is unmistakable. I’m just so glad you received the recognition you deserve," another fan complimented.

Rhino impressed viewers with his distinctive voice but fans were divided between two pop stars on who might be behind the mask.

Speaking after his win, Charlie said: "It was sad to say goodbye to Rhino. You grow quite attached to your character during the show as you spend so much time with the costume. Sometimes I’d just be on my own in the dressing room waiting for my performance slot and have his face just staring back at me.

"My band mates in both Busted and Fightstar guessed it was me within the first two seconds of hearing Rhino sing. When you spend that much time on stage with people and spend so much time in the studio, it would be very hard for them not to get it pretty much instantly."
