Charlie Sheen - possibly a bit dodgy; the Pope - Catholic

Man, it's been a while since we had a good celebrity divorce case, hasn't it? Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock / Tommy Lee, maybe? Ellen Barkin and that rich old guy? Oh GOD it feels like years since Don Johnson or Melanie Griffith, let alone Madge and Sean Penn.

So, as Marina and I say to one another every morning across the desk, thank heavens for Charlie Sheen!

According to Access Hollywood (so it must be true, etc and so forth) his very former wife, Denise Richards, claims that Sheen exhibits "inappropriate behaviour and conduct, [including] his attraction to underage women and his sexual explicitness on the internet, including revealing his private parts."

Oh Charlie, Charlie, Charlie (or Carlos Estevez, to give him his inconveniently Spanish real name.) Yeah, we've been hearing the stories for years, too: school girl outfits, no over 18s, Viagra overdose, though God knows how that manifests itself.

But I think we need to way up the possible outcomes here. One must think carefully before casting stones at the star of Hot Shots Part Deux or the callously overlooked Men At Work, the directorial masterpiece from Sheen's brother, Emilio Estevez , a movie that oddly was unmentioned in the endless bumpf for his recent follow up, the turgid, Bobby. Men at Work, on the other hand, featured the spawn of Martin Sheen playing, as the poster memorably put it, "two garbage men who know when something smells funny!" I mean, letting just another perv remain at loose in the LA area or depriving the world of future MGM classics? It's a fence, ladies, that we cannot just sit on. No matter how much Charlie would pay us to do so.
