Charlie's Angels: First look at reboot with Kristen Stewart leaves fans divided

Depending on the year you were born, when you think of Charlie's Angels, you might think of a trio of women with big hair from the 70s.

Alternatively you might picture Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu kicking some serious butt.

But today's movie goers will have a new set of Angels to fawn over, as Elizabeth Banks has directed a  new movie for the beloved franchise, which sees an all new elite crime-fighting team take down bad guys, while looking downright fabulous.

A first look at the movie has just been released, but fans are divided over the photos.

Stepping into work for the mysterious Charles Townsend are Sabina Wilson (Kristen Stewart), Jane kano (Ella Balinska) and Elena Houghlin (Naomi Scott).

Elizabeth Banks will also be featured in the movie as Bosley, who aids the Angels with their dangerous missions.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Banks revealed more about the upcoming film.

She started by describing it as a "continuation" of the other Charlie's Angels TV series and films, instead of a remake of the original.

She said: "If you were rich in 1976, you only got richer. Charles Townsend is richer than ever, so he's grown the business into a global spy agency."

Banks went on to explain that the movie will have a heavy focus on women working together as a team.

"It was important to me to make a movie about women working together and supporting each other, and not make a movie about their romantic entanglements or their mother they don't call enough.

"When I'm at work, I don't talk about those things. I get on with my job. It felt important to do that for the Angels, to treat them with the respect their skill set demands."

She added that Scott's character would be the "heat of the movie", Stewart will be very "funny" in the film and Balinska is the "muscle" of the group.

The first look photos provided a glimpse at all of them in character, brandishing weapons and just looking fierce as hell.

But was it enough to get people excited for the release on November 15?

Fans on social media gave mixed feedback, with some wishing the franchise had been left alone.

One person commented: "NOTHING BEATS Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore & Lucy Lie's version. NOTHING!!!!!"

Another wrote: "No. Thank you, next."

A third added: "Who asked for this reboot???"

However there were some who really loved the photos.

"This looks amazing," tweeted one fan.

"Can't wait to see the movie," posted someone else.
