Charlie Patino injury timescale confirmed as Mikel Arteta loses Arsenal midfielder before Leeds

Charlie Patino is expected to be on the sidelines for at least two to three weeks, football.london understands.

The 18-year-old was likely to feature in Arsenal's squad to face Leeds United in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, but Patino sustained an ankle injury at the weekend which means he'll miss the game.

Patino turned his ankle in training and won't be available for the next few weeks, which has come as a blow for the England starlet who many expected to see play against AFC Wimbledon last month.

Instead, fellow youngster Salah-Eddine Oulad M'hand takes his place on the bench against Marcelo Bielsa's men, as a reward for his fine performances at under-23 level in recent weeks.

Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah start for Arsenal in attack against Leeds.

The Gunners make nine changes from the team that beat Aston Villa on Friday, with the likes of Bernd Leno, Cedric Soares, Rob Holding and Sead Kolasinac all getting game time.

Thomas Partey, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Emile Smith Rowe were all on the scoresheet last time out at the Emirates Stadium, but it is only the latter of those three that keeps his place in the side.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Mohamed Elneny start in midfield, whilst Nicolas Pepe also features for Mikel Arteta's side, as they look to book a spot in the quarter-finals.
