Charlie Patino and Lucas Torreira set for Arsenal exits as Edu continues summer transfer plans

Arsenal's bid to reduce the size of their squad looks set to continue with the departures of Lucas Torreira and Charlie Patino.

Galatasaray have shown interest in Torreira and football.london understands that Arsenal are keen to secure an exit for the Uruguayan midfielder who is viewed as surplus to requirements. Patino, meanwhile, is edging closer to a season-long loan move to Championship side Blackpool. Flo Balogun is also expected to seal a loan move to French side de Stade Reims, while football.london understands that fellow academy players Salah Oulad M'Hand, Miguel Azeez and Brooke Norton-Cuffy could secure loans this summer as well.

Arsenal are also hopeful of securing exits for players like Pablo Mari, Runar Alex Runarsson, Hector Bellerin and Ainsley Maitland-Niles this summer. Nicolas Pepe is another who the club are open to allowing to leave, but at this point in the window there has not been firm enough interest in him to spark a move.

The Gunners are keen to trim down their squad after spending around £120million on the arrivals of Marquinhos, Matt Turner, Fabio Vieira, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko. "We have a large squad," Arteta said after Zinchenko's arrival. "We have to make some decisions on the players that we're not going to be using consistently and be fair and straight with them and that's a process that is going to start very soon as well."

Nuno Tavares has already joined Marseille on loan, while Bernd Leno completed his move to Fulham on Tuesday and fellow goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo joined Crewe for the season earlier in the window. The plan is now for more to follow.

Edu is also still open to the idea of bringing another signing to the Emirates before the transfer window closes on September 1st. Youri Tielemans of Leicester continues to be linked, while the Gunners are also said to be targeting someone who can play across the forward line.
