United sold Romelu Lukaku and let Alexis Sanchez leave on loan in the summer and failed to replace either departing forward.
Meanwhile, Anthony Martial has picked up an injury this season and Marcus Rashford was forced off in United's defeat by West Ham last time out.
One saving grace for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is that Mason Greenwood has returned following an illness, but leading the line against Arsenal on Monday is a lot to put on the shoulder's of a 17-year-old.
Predicting Arsenal to beat United 2-1, Nicholas told Sky Sports: "Who is fit for Manchester United? Marcus Rashford is out; is Anthony Martial ready?
"If Arsenal can play a more structured game on the counter-attack, I think they will come away with all three points.
"Man United will try to dominate the midfield with aggression, with Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba.
"Aubameyang and Pepe had chances against Liverpool at Anfield and if they get these chances against Man United I think they will take them.
"It will make life easier for Arsenal's defence with Man United's depleted frontline."
