Charlie Mulgrew confesses undying Celtic love as he delivers Rangers title verdict

Charlie Mulgrew still can't help but scan for Celtic when he casts an eye over the weekend results.

And the former Parkhead star admits he can't take his eyes off this season's title race either.

The Blackburn Rovers defender, currently on-loan at Wigan, still holds the Hoops close to his heart and insists he'll always be a fan after a six-year stint in Glasgow.

Mulgrew can't call which way the Premiership battle will go but believes the prospect of a serious challenge from Ibrox is good for the Scottish game.

He told Sky Sports: "Yes, it's been really tight this year, a lot tighter than probably expected and both teams just keep winning so it will be an exciting season and one that Scotland will be happy to have.

"It's brilliant, they've got the big teams back (at the top of the league) and it's great for Scottish football to have a title race like that.

" Rangers have been behind a bit in the last few years but they're doing well this year so far so we'll see how it ends.

"I always watch the games and look for the Celtic result, it's something that never leaves you.

"It's massive [for me], I'm a Celtic fan, it is something I always look to.

"I'm obviously hoping Celtic win the league but we'll see what happens."

Both sides are in league action later on Wednesday, with Celtic hosting Hamilton and Rangers heading north to face Aberdeen.

Those games precede Sunday's showpiece at Hampden, with Neil Lennon and Steven Gerrard colliding in the Betfred Cup Final.
