Charlie Moore, former Illinois Mr. Basketball, will transfer to DePaul from Kansas: report

CHICAGO _ Former Chicago Morgan Park point guard Charlie Moore, the 2016 Mr. Basketball winner in Illinois, is on the move again in college _ and this time he's apparently coming home.

Moore, who began his college career at California and played for Kansas this past season, will transfer to DePaul, according to a tweet Monday from Stadium's Jeff Goodman.

The 5-foot-11 Moore initially committed to Memphis, but after a coaching change there, he signed with Cal and averaged 12.2 points and 3.5 assists as a freshman.

The Golden Bears then also changed coaches, and Moore transferred to Kansas, where he sat out the 2017-18 season before playing in 35 games this past season with one start. He struggled on the court during his one season for the Jayhawks, averaging 2.9 points and 1.3 assists in 13.1 minutes per game and shooting 28.6 percent from the field (26.7 percent on 3-pointers).

He has two seasons of remaining eligibility. It's uncertain whether he would be eligible to play next season, though he could apply to the NCAA for a waiver of the mandatory year in residence for transfers.
