Rangers are set to sign young Manchester United midfielder Charlie McCann.
The 19-year-old has impressed for the Old Trafford club’s Under 23 side over the previous year and Steven Gerrard has been monitoring McCann’s progress.
And now the Daily Record reports he’s set to add him to his Rangers squad as he continues to build a team to defend the Scottish Premiership title.
The Ibrox club will have to pay a fee for McCann, who joined United from hometown club Coventry City three years ago.
He still has a year left to run on his United contract but the Gers are making their move now rather than waiting to get him next summer.
McCann has represented England at Under 16 level but declared for ireland and pulled on the green shirt at 2019 UEFA Under19 European Championships.
He is something of an all-rounder in the middle of the park, able to play in both the holding and attacking roles.
McCann will join other new arrivals Jon Lindstram, Fashion Sakala and Nnamdi Ofoborh in Govan with Gerrard not yet finished his recruitment for the summer.
