ARLINGTON, Texas _ Charlie Brewer only attempted six passes before having to be pulled out of the Big 12 championship game between Baylor and Oklahoma on Saturday.
Brewer took a hard hit from Oklahoma's Kenneth Murray in the second quarter and after being helped up by Baylor players he appeared to stumble as he tried to maintain his balance.
Still, Brewer stayed in the game for Baylor after the hit. Shortly after, he tucked the ball and ran while trucking defensive back Brendan Radley-Hiles on his way in another hard collision.
Officials spoke with Baylor coach Matt Rhule, suggesting the Bears give Brewer another look on the sidelines. After leading the Bears on a drive that ended in John Mayers' first field goal of the game, Rhule pulled out Brewer and subbed in freshman quarterback Gerry Bohanon.
Bohanon passed for 58 yards and a touchdown, leading Baylor into halftime with a 13-10 lead.
In his interview before the third quarter, Rhule confirmed that Brewer would be out for the rest of the game.
