Charlie Bird shares photo of long-term partner ahead of RTE Late Late Show appearance

Charlie Bird has shared a picture with his partner on Twitter ahead of his TV appearance tonight.

The former RTE news correspondent is set to make a return to the Late Late Show tonight to launch ‘Climb with Charlie’.

Bird, who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease last year, shared the picture of his partner Claire Mould and their dog, Tiger, to Twitter.

The couple married back in 2016, after ten years together. Mould was a colleague of his in RTE.

They adopted Tiger, the cockapoo, shortly after their wedding. Prior to this, Bird admitted to not being a big fan of dogs.

However, he finally gave into Mould’s pleas of wanting a pup and is now besotted.

Bird was previously married to Mary O’Connor, whom he shares two adult children with. The pair now have a very amicable friendship, with Bird previously describing them as “parents of the modern age”.

In the tweet, he said, “I’m on the Late Late Show tonight and will be launching ‘Climb with Charlie’. I will be climbing Croagh Patrick on the 2nd April. If you want to help you can climb a mountain near you. A big thank you to the people in Westport and Murrisk for their help. http://climbwithcharlie.ie”

Bird opened up about his diagnosis last October, thanking his pals for “their amazing support” and the “kindness from so many people”.

Since then, he has announced plans to climb Croagh Patrick alongside family and friends.

The climb takes place in April to raise funds for two charities close to the journalist’s heart, including Motor Neurone Disease Ireland and Pieta.

He’s asking others to take part in their own climb on that day in aid of those charities.

Bird will be joined by cervical cancer campaigner Vicky Phelan on the Late Late tonight to inspire people to join in.

Viewers will hear all the details about how you can get ready for the challenge in the twelve weeks between now and then and how to register for the Croagh Patrick event.

The Late Late Show will also hear from Mary McAleese, Davy Fitzgerald, Baz Ashmawy, Joanna Donnelly, Dr Harry Barry, Dermot Bannon, Karl Henry and many more who are throwing their full support behind the epic climb.
