Charlie Bird issues update on attending 'bucket list' Bruce Springsteen concert

Charlie Bird has confirmed he will see Bruce Springsteen perform in the RDS despite suffering a recent health setback.

The broadcaster previously told his followers that seeing the rock n roll icon perform was the last remaining item on his bucket list. Charlie, who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2021, also revealed that he had selected the performer's hit single 'Land of Hopes and Dreams' as his funeral song.

Charlie's plans to attend one of the singer's sold out concerts in the RDS this week were thrown into doubt after he was suddenly hospitalised. The broadcaster suffered extensive facial injuries while out on a walk and was rushed to A&E in Dun Laoghaire.

Luckily, the former journalist is now back on his feet following the ordeal. He recently shared a snap of himself and Daniel O'Donnell enjoying time in Dundrum after his release from hospital.

He said on Twitter: "Great help today from them at Michaels and Vincent’s A&E. I have a fractured cheek bone but I also got great news- that other wish on my bucket list is going to happen this weekend."

He previously teased that he still hoped to meet his rock n roll hero, even with a 'bloody face.' Charlie's injuries also won't stop him from embarking on future walks, as he plans to participate in Darkness into Light at Phoenix Park this weekend.

The broadcaster previously urged people to get involved with the annual event, which raises money for suicide prevention charity Pieta House. Charlie has been instrumental in raising funds for the group following his 'Climb With Charlie' campaign in 2022, which saw people nationwide take to the hills for Pieta House and the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.
