Charlie will stay at Queens Park Rangers, with the west London club having fielded no concrete bids for him over the past four weeks. With less than three hours to go before the transfer deadline, club insiders put the prospect of him leaving at zero per cent while Austin himself tweeted a message which said that he had a “big season ahead” at QPR.
Austin has wanted to move to a club in the Premier League, where he enjoyed an excellent season for QPR last time out, despite their relegation, scoring 18 goals in 35 games. But there is now be insufficient time for him to agree to personal terms and undergo a medical, even if a rival club were to come in and meet QPR’s £15m asking price.

Crystal Palace made an offer of around £12m for Austin only to see it rejected and the club then took Connor Wickham from Sunderland for an initial £6m, with £3m in add-ons. They announced the signing of Wickham on 3 August. Previously, Leicester City had a £12m bid turned down for him.
Several other clubs have shown an interest in Austin while Palace have tried again for him over the past week or so. The 26-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at QPR, starting the Championship season well with four goals in five matches.
