Charlie Adam set to join Dundee as veteran closes in on switch to boyhood heroes

Charlie Adam is set to sign for boyhood heroes Dundee.

The former Liverpool and Rangers midfielder is poised to pen a one-year-deal at Dens Park for the new season.

The ex-Scotland international is from Fintray and is a well-known Dundee fan.

Dens Park boss James McPake is hoping to confirm the deal for next term.

The 34-year-old, who had a training stint at Bolton, returns after leaving Reading at the end of season.

Adam has had successful spells at Anfield, Stoke City and Blackpool after leaving Rangers in 2009.

The playmaker famously pulled on a Dundee strip for Julian Speroni’s testimonial in 2015.

Adam said: "I grew up as a Dundee fan and have been to so many big games.

“I’m not going to say I'm going to end my career at Dundee or anything like that but to pull on that shirt will be a special feeling."
