Charlie Adam reveals Steven Gerrard Rangers legend game nerves as he gushes over Ibrox boss

It's fair to say Charlie Adam likes what he sees when he looks at Steven Gerrard.

The former Rangers and Liverpool midfielder has been waxing lyrical about a man he describes as an icon and makes him nervous to be around even to this day.

The two stars entered the fray together in last month's legends match at Ibrox as Gerrard made a much-hyped appearance in the light blue of Rangers.

And Adam has explained why being in the Ibrox gaffer's presence still keeps him on edge.

Speaking on the Big Interview podcast , he said: "Going back to Liverpool, when you walk into the dressing room for me, Steven Gerrard is the icon of Liverpool football club.

"Carra (Jamie Carragher) was incredible but Stevie won games, won trophies on his own.

"Stevie for me was an icon. I was in awe of him and I'm not ashamed to say it now, I look up to him.

"I respect him as a player and as a manager. Because I have been close to him in a dressing room I look up to him.

"He is the all-round midfield player in British football and how to tackle, to pass it, to score goals - everything.

"There's an aura that me on the inside for one season, that even now still looks at him and gets nervous when I'm actually around him. Even Now.

"Even when I played in the legends game there's the excitement to be around these type of people and I can't speak highly enough of him as a person and as a player.

"He's the one that, growing up, was incredible to look at and to share a dressing room with him was an incredible time."
