Charlie Adam insists steering boyhood heroes Dundee back into the Premiership is the pinnacle of his career.
The Dark Blues skipper believes Monday night’s play-off success over relegated Kilmarnock was sweeter than anything he’s achieved despite winning promotion to the Premier League with Blackpool and scoring for Rangers in the Champions League.
After leading a champagne-soaked celebration at Rugby Park, the 35-year-old former Scotland and Liverpool midfielder admits his emotional lifelong connection with the Dens Park club ensured it eclipsed all his previous feats.
Now he is eyeing next season’s fixture list.
Adam said: “This is special because this is the club I supported as a boy.
"This is emotional. We managed to drag this club back into the Premiership and it deserves to be there.
"We have a big fan base and a good owner and that’s what I signed up for – to get us back to where we belong and we’ve managed to achieve that.
“Is it the most satisfying thing I’ve done in football? This is the best. I dreamed of playing for my boyhood club in the top division and we’ve managed to get them there.
"It probably won’t sink in until I sober up on Tuesday, when I’ll realise what’s going to happen.
"Right now I’m just dying for next season’s fixtures to come out!”
