Charlie Adam in Dominic McKay Celtic exit solution pitch as he rubbishes 'stability' concern

Charlie Adam reckons the Dominic McKay's shock departure won't be a problem for Celtic with Peter Lawwell on hand for advice.

Lawwell 's 17-year stay as chief executive came to an end in July, with his successor walking away from the role after just three months.

It has seen Parkhead board mainstay Michael Nicholson step into the role on a temporary basis as the club search for McKay's permanent replacement.

However, Dundee skipper Adam doesn't believe fans should be concerns about stability at Celtic Park.

The former Rangers midfielder told the PLZ Football Show that Lawwell's guidance in the background will steer the club through another transitional phase.

He believes that legal mind Nicholson may take on the role permanently with the backing of the former Parkhead chief.

Adam said: "He (McKay) has obviously said family reasons, so you have to respect that, but it was big shoes to fill.

"It was the same when Sir Alex Ferguson left Manchester United, it has taken them this long to get some form of stability because they were sacking manager's left, right and centre, so Celtic is the same.

"When Peter left it was a huge blow for the football club on and off the pitch.

"A manager left, there was 12 players (coming in), all these players leaving or wanting to leave, so Dominic McKay has come in and he has stabilised the club for three months.

"It has obviously been a difficult decision, but Michael Nicholson will know the football club and will have that transition when coming in. It won't be a problem.

'Peter will obviously still be in the background as well, and it wouldn't be a silly decision to ask for advice with the experiences he has had.

"You won't see him in the forefront but he will still be there for Michael moving forward. That is what happens at big companies.

"There will be someone then ready to step into Michael Nicholson's shoes if he does step into the role on a permanent basis.
