Charlie Adam in brutal Celtic verdict as Rangers hero claims 'hopeless' rivals shouldn't make combined XI

Confident Charlie Adam believes no Celtic players would make it into Rangers ' best team this season.

Steven Gerrard 's side are on the brink of an unbeaten Premiership campaign and are eyeing a domestic double ahead of the Scottish Cup clash.

For the Hoops it's their last chance to claim silverware with interim boss John Kennedy claiming the dethroned champions are still the best team in Scotland.

However, when discussing the combed best XI from the Glasgow rivals on the PLZ Football Show Adam insisted no Parkhead star would make the grade.

After nine years of dominance came to an end, the former Ibrox midfielder believes there has been a real turnaround in quality.

When quizzed about a team that included Odsonne Edouard, Callum McGregor, Kris Ajer and James Forrest in the line-up, the Dundee skipper said: “Hopeless. Forrest hasn’t played all season.

“[James] Tavernier has got to get in there and [Alfredo] Morelos is better than Edouard. There you go.

“If you base it on how it’s been this season, it’s difficult to see a Celtic player [getting into the team].

“I would have [Joe] Aribo ahead of McGregor with how he’s performed.”

When pushed by fellow pundit Alan Rough for a definitive verdict on the XI, Adam added: “Based on this season, I wouldn’t have a Celtic player get in that Rangers team, based on this season and the performances.”
