Charlie Adam in Albian Ajeti Celtic warning as midfielder makes startling 'not at the level' claim

Charlie Adam has cast doubt on Celtic's move for Albian Ajeti, warning that the new man may not cut it in Scotland.

The Swiss international completed a £5million move from West Ham United on Thursday, signing a four-year deal at Parkhead.

He'll provide Neil Lennon with another option up-front, but former Rangers midfielder Adam expressed some doubts about the signing.

Speaking on PLZ Soccer he said: "It's tougher coming to Scotland.

"Wait until you go to play Livingston, wait until you go to play Hamilton on the astroturf. That'll open the lad's eyes up.

"£5million is a lot of investment for Celtic, he's a young player.

"Have I seen enough of him? I've heard through the grapevine that he's not at the level that everybody thinks he is.

"Listen, Celtic are a great club. Peter (Lawwell) has obviously done a great job there in terms of how he fixes the finances.

"For that outlay they must like the lad, and like I say if he does well then he'll be worth £15-20million in the next 18 months.

"So it's a gamble, every transfer's a gamble, but Celtic seem to think it's a good buy for them.

"But where does that put Leigh Griffiths now?"
