Charlie Adam fesses up to comical Dundee dive and admits even his daughter's pals are slagging him

Red-faced Charlie Adam has fessed up to the comical dive that turned him into a social media sensation.

And the Dundee captain admitted he's been getting stick from all angles - even from his daughter's school pals.

Adam himself managed a sheepish chuckle moments after he was booked for taking a dreadfully disguised tumble as he anticipated a challenge from St Johnstone 's Tom Sang last weekend.

But the former Rangers, Liverpool and Stoke City midfielder conceded he was well in the wrong.

The clip swiftly swept the internet and the 36-year-old has spent the last week explaining himself whenever he leaves the house.

Adam's even been the talk of the school playground with his youngster being asked: "What happened to your dad falling over?"

"I've had loads of stick," he told BBC Radio 5Live. "Wherever I go, everybody asks about it. My daughter was in school the other day and even young kids in the class are saying, 'What happened to your dad falling over?'

"Some people see the funny side but looking back on it, it's not right and I've got to hold my hands up. It was wrong.

Adam continued: "I could see the full-back coming towards me and I think he's going to foul me.

"I'm trying to 'buy the foul'. He never made the contact and then I've obviously gone down.

"It's not great. Hopefully we can move on and get a good result at the weekend."
