Charlie Adam has played down a video showing Steven Gerrard arriving in London.
Footage of the Rangers boss stepping off a train at Euston Station surfaced on social media earlier on Wednesday as Aston Villa continued their push to make him their new manager.
The video fuelled speculation Gerrard had travelled south for talks with the Premier League club, although the timing of the recording was disputed by fans online.
Some speculated the man accompanying him could be his representative, with assistant coach Michael Beale also placed in the English capital following an update on his Instagram page.
But Adam claims the man in question is a friend of Gerrard's and that he's in London for reasons other than Villa.
The Dundee midfielder told PLZ Soccer : "Is this the video? To be fair about the video, it's not his agent, it's one of his friends, so I can back him up on that.
"I also heard the story there's reasons why he's in London, as well, not just because of the Aston Villa thing.

"We're putting two and two together at the moment and speculating for everything.
"The rumours are circling very quickly and it's very hard to quash them, unless the club or Steven himself come out and say something.
"It's going to add arms and legs to everything until we know what's going to happen.
"What's going on and what everybody's hearing is it looks strongly like he's going to Aston Villa, which will be a huge blow for Rangers."
