Charli XCX has announced she will release her seventh studio album – Music, Fashion, Film – this summer.

The chart topper, known for songs including Boom Clap, I Love It and her Brat album, which sparked a cultural phenomenon, said that the upcoming 11-track record will be released on July 24.

Charli XCX, whose real name is Charlotte Aitchison, posted a black and white photo believed to be the cover of the new record, featuring musician John Cale, fashion designer Marc Jacobs and filmmaker Martin Scorsese.

The image features the unexpected trio gathered in a room, with Jacobs in the background leaning against a wall while Velvet Underground founder Cale and Oscar-winner Scorsese sit at a shabby table with an ashtray on it.

Beneath the post, the 33-year-old singer told her 9.1 million fans: “My new album Music, Fashion, Film is out July 24th. 11 songs, 30 minutes, 5 seconds.

“Available to pre order now, love you xx.”

The comments were flooded with excitement from fans and fellow stars such as US designer Jacobs, who wrote: “Thank you Charli. So grateful to be included.”

The star followed the news with a post to her B.sides Instagram account which appears to tease a potential track and features the singer posing while laying on a bed, with the title for her upcoming album layered over the video.

In the caption, the singer wrote: “I’m not a bad girl anymore I promiseeee ;).”

Charli has been using the account to release B-side tracks to accompany her latest singles – Rock Music and SS26 – which are exclusive to the page or available only on record.

Along with a string of new releases, Charli also recently hosted an impromptu In Conversation fan event and DJ set on Friday with her husband, The 1975 drummer George Daniel, where she teased new music to fans.

Her latest project comes after she released a Wuthering Heights companion album to Emerald Fennell’s film of the same name earlier this year, and also the Brat album, which sparked a cultural phenomenon on its release.

The “Brat summer” trend caused a frenzy on social media, which incorporated sultry fashion choices inspired by the neon green and black album cover.

Earlier this year, the singer also starred in The Moment, a semi-fictional film looking at the release of Brat and the world tour that followed, and appeared in other film projects including Pete Ohs’ Erupcja and Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights Of Hero.

Charli has had two UK number one singles and three number one albums.
